How to choose your wedding invitation designer

Your invitation is the first thing guests hold of your wedding — it sets the tone for everything that follows. Here's how to pick a designer who'll get it right.
Look for a consistent design language
The best wedding suites feel of a piece — the logo, save-the-date, invite, films and day-of stationery all speak the same visual language. Ask to see full suites, not just single cards, and check that everything ties together.
Design and printing under one roof
Plenty of designers hand off printing to a third party, where colours shift and finishes disappoint. A studio that designs and prints in-house controls quality from file to finished card — and is one team to hold accountable.
Ask about stocks, finishes (foil, emboss, deckle edges) and whether they ship — especially important for NRI and destination weddings.
Start early, decide on flavour
For printed invitations, six to eight weeks of lead time is comfortable; films need a little longer. Decide whether you want just a digital invite, a printed suite, a motion film — or the whole celebration designed end to end.
